The Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is used for everything and anything!  The health benefits of coconut oil include skin care, hair care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, diabetes, HIV and cancer, and bone strength. There are Capric Acid and Lauric Acid in Coconut Oil. These are the same acids that are found in mother’s milk and keep the baby protected from infections.

Adding coconut oil to your diet:

  • Increases your energy, balances hormones and stimulates the thyroid glandes
It raises your metabolic rate, which helps release energy and promote weight loss.
  • Coconut oil helps improve the digestive system and helps prevents problems
In other words, its like a cleaner. It just goes through your body and kills all the bad bacteria in there. Which brings me to my other point.
  •  It strengthens the immune system!
It helps fight off viruses and bacteria causing disease such as, influenza, herpes, even HIV!
  • Helps prevent heart problems
  • Helps to dissolve kidney stones
  • Coconut oil helps control blood sugar, and improves the secretion of insulin
  • "Preliminary research has shown indications of the effect of coconut oil on reducing the viral load of HIV patient"
  • Coconut oil is often preferred by athletes and body builders, especially by those who are dieting. Helps in boosting energy and endurance, and enhances the performance of athletes.

Hair Care:

  •  Promotes healthy hair growth as well as a shiny complexion.
Its an excellent conditioner and helps with the regrowth of damaged hair!

- After a shower, apply a tiny amount of coconut oil to your hair. Avoid the roots, just moisturize the ends. Wear in hair all day

Body Care:

  • Coconut oil is an AMAZING moisturizer!!!
Even for reallyy dry skin! There is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin.
  •  It delays wrinkles and the sagging of skin. Which is good to know if your getting close to those 30's...
  • Treat various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections
  • Use it in your make up routine as a moisturizer
For me, I put a dime sized amount on my fingers. Rub it between my fingers to warm it up to make it liquidity, and I apply it to my face every night after I wash my face with my bare minerals face wash. And I apply it to my face every morning right before I start putting on my make up.

  • Use it for treating acne
Coconut Oil is very effective in the treatment of Acne and cuts down inflammation.
  • When applied on open cuts, it forms a chemical layer which protects the infected body part from external dust, air, fungi, bacteria and virus.
  •  Coconut oil is most effective on bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues.
That's amazing!!!  ^
  •   Coconut oil is very soothing and hence it helps in removing stress. Applying coconut oil to the head followed with a gentle massage helps in removing mental fatigue.

According to the Coconut Research Center, coconut oil kills viruses that cause influenza, measles, hepatitis, herpes, SARS, etc. It also kills bacteria that cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and gonorrhea, etc. Coconut oil is also effective on fungi and yeast that cause candidiasis, ringworm, athletes foot, thrush, diaper rash, etc.

How to use coconut oil:

Most nutritionists recommend a daily dosage of three tablespoons.

When cooking, coconut oil can be stirred into oatmeal, soups, and stews. For sauteing, heat coconut oil in a shallow pan for a few minutes and then add your favorite vegetables or use the hot oil to fry fish, potatoes, or chicken. Coconut oil can also be used in baking as a 1 to 1 replacement for butter or other oils. I suggest you heat the coconut oil first, and then measure the appropriate amount of oil called for by the recipe. Lastly, for those energy junkies, try coconut oil as an ingredient in your next fruit or protein smoothie.

You can choose to keep coconut oil in the refrigerator if you want it to stay a solid. If you don't, it will become a liquid if the room temperature is hot enough. Either way it wont spoil so it depends on your preference and what you're going to use it mainly for.

Buying your coconut oil

It has to be pure extra virgin coconut oil. It will say that on the label so just look for it. Look for it in the dietary aisle because its listed as a Dietary Supplement so if you don't feel like asking someone just go straight there lol Also getting an organic brand is always better when buying something so keep that in mind :)
